Flo

Flo is a physical toy modelled after a fish, that when released into polluted waters can collect plastic. It is paired with a mixed reality game called Flograb that is connected to it wirelessly. The intended target audience are children who look towards understanding the extent of marine pollution and help by making a difference through engagement of community in a fun interactive manner. The game uses the help of an existing water clean up project's infrastructure, to aid in trash collection at the end of each game.

Chinatown Connect

A community newspaper created by and for Chinese seniors to solve their issues of loneliness and isolation in the United States.This project lasts for one year, includes research part and design part. The final delivery contains two different version of a community newspaper, one is printed version and another one is a digital version, for the reason that seniors in the different background have two different user behaviors on newspaper reading. The design solution comes from careful observation of user daily life and behavior, as well as the mental models of different groups of seniors.

Coin Collection

The Coin Collection Program launched by HKMA is a creative solution based on the concept of a mobile bank at your doorstep. Two coin collection carts remodeled from 10-tonnes vehicles equipped with coin counting machines were created by Oval Design to provide coin exchange services to the public free of charge. This is the first of its kinds in the world. The project promotes environmental friendliness through encouraging the public to channel back coins to the circulation system, and incorporates elements of CSR as citizens can donate small change to charity.

Ripple

The design helps to comfort people longing for the deceased .In Eastern culture, water has spiritual power. There is a small pool on the base of the tombstone, which can be filled with water. Under the pool there is an ultrasonic vibration device that makes water ripple. The strength of the ripples changes with the pitch of the voice from the mourner. The sensor can detect the slight changes when the mourners are speaking, and then activates the vibration of water ripple with these changes, as if the interaction comes from heaven.

Go home

Due to war and poverty and other factors, more and more people become homeless and need help, especially when they need to get through cold winter nights in their cities. Each homeless person wants a home. This design will provide them with some help. It is like a door that everyone can open it, so that people with it will have a warm feeling of entering home. The surface can absorb the solar heat and store heat during the daytime. Then, it begins to heat wanderers’ body and keep the temperature during the night. It will surely make thousands of homeless people feel not cold in this winter.

There is the circumstance appearance in fitting room in our daily life, if you get too much clothes in, you may leave your belongings on the pothook after you trying on. Design team offer you a new solution in fitting room’s lock design, which can solve this issue in combining doorknobs, pothook and lock. By using the hanger and the unique shape, the product can lock the door in a smart way. The unique modeling design makes installing convenient and fast. Workers can install 2 in 1 behind the door and those reinforced structure inside 2 in 1 makes it more burliness.
