Interview with Oleksii Simanovych : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Oleksii Simanovych : AleXX is innovative Ukrainian brandy in Fusion style for the fourth year already launches a New Year limited edition brandy in exclusive innovative package. Limited edition of AleXX brandy in 2013 was devoted to the symbol of the year – black snake. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Oleksii Simanovych : Working on the package we have tried to achieve the real effect of luster of snake skin in the package. We had tried a lot of material, and stopped at a sufficiently hard metal foil printing on plastic tubes. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Oleksii Simanovych : Behind each new victory is yet another new project. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Oleksii Simanovych : It passed about three months from the moment of idea till the implementation of the project. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Oleksii Simanovych : We have a long relationship with the brand AleXX. In total, Krylia FMCG Branding has developed seven limited edition packaging for this brand. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Oleksii Simanovych : All rights to the brand AleXX belong to the House of Vintage Brandy Tavria .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Oleksii Simanovych : It is always a great challenge for us to work with a such vivid and extraordinary brand like AleXX. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Oleksii Simanovych : We always work as a team. The author of this project is our lead designer Platon Ivantsov. The work also involved Oleksii Simanovych (as art-director) and Anna Demchenko (as visualizer). We also want to thank our friend, a great photographer Anatoly Kasyan for his help in shooting of such a complex subject material. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Oleksii Simanovych : This product is marketed as gift brandy for the New Year holidays. Briefly, the target audience can be described as innovators. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Oleksii Simanovych : This time we have chosen a very complicated printing technology. But the idea has paid off as. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Oleksii Simanovych : AleXX Black Snake s devoted to the symbol of 2013 – black snake. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Oleksii Simanovych : Krylia FMCG Branding ‘dressed’ ALEXX tube in snakeskin. Color transparent packaging allowed demonstrating a bottle using contrast ratios of cold foil with flame-gold color brandy. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Oleksii Simanovych : Yes of course. We always work with some of the best professionals in the printing of packaging in Ukraine. Representatives of the customer as well worked with us closely. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Oleksii Simanovych : Metallized with black flashes scale was successfully put on using a complex method of printing on foil stamping tube from high quality plastic. We used a bitmap (stretching from black to transparent) with the perfect "hit" in the foil stamping the image of snake scales .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. Oleksii Simanovych : Before to reach the desired result, we had a lot of failed samples for printing materials. In the end, patience, resourcefulness and professionalism of typography workers led us to the excellent results. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Oleksii Simanovych : Life of limited edition brands is very short. We love this project and wanted to give AleXX Blac Snake a little more publicity than he had got. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Oleksii Simanovych : Once again we make sure that the best way to achieve a good result is to put before an extremely complex task. .Frank Scott: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?. Oleksii Simanovych : A few words about our client: AleXX – the innovative brand in Fusion style was created to change all pre-existing stereotypes in the perception of brandy, its representing and consumption. AleXX represents the new modern life style – bright, dynamic and unpredictable. AleXX brandy offers a new innovative (more democratic in comparison with French cognac) way of consumption (with ice) and style (modern and fusion). AleXX combines elegance and temperament, the solidity and frenetic pace of life, the rigor and sexuality. AleXX was created to break the regulations, break outdated traditions of brandy consumption and create new ones. .
